			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recreational sports is an important part of our leisure activities.  It helps relieve the stress of our work day. There are a wide range of  activities that one can participate in, softball, baseball, basket ball,  tennis, football and even hockey. For the team sports, there are even  leagues in which the teams can compete, thus increasing the energy level  required. This in turn increases the amount of beneficial exercise and  stress relief.</p>
<p>The skill levels vary widely and most of the  players are in for the fun and exercise. Occasionally team sports can  get competitive and tempers can flare. The challenge is to keep the egos  and violence in check. Recently, there has been a ration of severe  injuries in youth sports. This is a disturbing trend. Youth sports  should be about skill development, not winning at all costs. A secondary  lesson that is supposed to be instilled by participation in youth  sports is sportsmanship. How to relate to your team mates and opposing  players in a positive non threatening way, is the other.</p>
<p><span id="more-427"></span>I am  particularly disheartened by the rise in head injuries and concussions,  this type of trauma is a potentially life altering injury. Concussions  can lead to stroke and other cognitive disorders that might not show up  until later in the child&#8217;s development. In the past few months several  youth sports organizations have come out with guidelines to prevent head  injuries. The American Hockey Association is an example. They have  published a set of recommendations for the coaches of youth hockey to  reduce the incidence of head trauma. The Canadian youth hockey  organization came out with a study that showed that children who played  in leagues that allowed body checking at the Pee Wee level were more  than three times more likely to suffer head trauma injuries than those  who played in non checking leagues.</p>
<p>Could there be a correlation  between these injuries and violent behavior in later years. I have found  no research on this, but it might have an effect. Then there are the  absolute tragedies, the Boston University hockey player Travis Roy who  is paralyzed from the neck down as result of a body check. More recently  a high school player received a serious injury that also paralyzed him.  To paraphrase the Peter, Paul and Mary song, &#8220;How many more times must  the children be hurt&#8221;.</p>
<p>Not only should the recommendations become  mandatory, but every youth sports coach should be trained in how to  prevent them in the first place. Ultimately it is up to the parents to  push for the adoption of these measures. If the parents let it be known  that they want to stop the senseless injuries at the local level. Almost  every level of youth sports is governed by at least a local  organization. The organizations should also enforce these coaching  strategies at every level. The safety and enjoyment of the activity  should be the primary goal of all youth sports.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People often ask me why they or their athletes need supplementation, even if they are eating a wholesome diet. This isn&#8217;t a simple question to answer and hopefully I&#8217;ll cover all the bases.</p>
<p>First, the current body of research indicates that our food is nutritionally degraded because of our current farming techniques. So, even if you have the best diet on the planet, the foods we eat just aren&#8217;t providing us with the nutrients we need. Additionally, I have yet to meet an athlete who has the time to sit and eat a proper meal on a regular basis. We are a culture of convenience and many of us are on the &#8220;grab and go&#8221; diet plan. Consequently, I strongly believe we all need supplementation but athletes are especially in need of additional supplies of vitamins and minerals because of the additional stress placed on their bodies by training and competition.</p>
<p>If we are eating for maximum performance, or just for general health, we need to supplement in order to provide our bodies the nutrients to: Recover, prevent cramping, prevent inflammation naturally, and mop up free radicals generated by exercise and just living!</p>
<p><span id="more-345"></span>Recovery is felt to be the missing component in human performance. Schools like UC Davis and the Creighton University School of Pharmacology, just to name a few, are looking at ways to replenish the body naturally after training and competition. Large branch chain amino acids and Xanthones, found in some plants, have been shown to have recovery aiding properties.</p>
<p>Cramping is a huge issue with athletes. With the advent of &#8220;Gatorade&#8221; electrolyte balance has been a large focus for athletes since the sixties. However, most universities are leading away from that technology since high sodium and sugar content has a detrimental effect on the hydration levels. When high levels of sodium occur on the body there is an inverse relationship with potassium and magnesium which can create cramping and other issues. Consequently, we need to find other ways to get our electrolytes into our bodies.</p>
<p>Additionally, mineral supplementation will help fuel the cell for increased function and performance. But, we have to be verycareful where these minerals come from. Most supplements are in what is known as elemental form which means that they were synthesized in a laboratory. In elemental form you can develop toxicity to some minerals and vitamins. Furthermore, the body doesn&#8217;t readily know what to do with minerals in this form, and consequently very little of the nutrients are actually absorbed. In fact, supplements in pill form have an absorption rate of about 20-30%. Many supplements just pass through the system undigested and unused. One needs minerals in ionic form, which are plant based and readily absorbed and recognized by the body. Lastly, endurance improves with the increase of electrolytes in the system.</p>
<p>Inflammation is another issue that athletes must face during recovery. Trainers, coaches, athletes, and parents of athletes are all looking for natural ways to reduce inflammation in the body. In order to keep inflammation down in the body acidic and sugary foods should be avoided daily. These include: White flour, enriched flour, candy, soda, etc. There are some great natural anti-inflammatories out on the market one of them being Omega 3s or fish oils and flax seed. Additionally, the Xanthones found in Mangosteen fruit have natural anti-inflammatory properties, more effective than celbrex and vioxx in clinical studies.</p>
<p>Lastly, I want to touch base on Free Radicals. In simple terms, a free radical is an atom that is seeking stabilization by stealing an electron from another atom. When that happens the atom that the electron is stolen from degrades and consequently damages the cell. This damage can affect even the DNA in the cell and thus mutations and a whole host of issues can occur. How does one get free radicals? Well, if you&#8217;re breathing you&#8217;re creating free radicals.</p>

Practice makes habit. Promotion of family members to participate in the Games and sport are more ways to healthy living.<br />
There are many advantages because of sports such as baseball, cricket and basketball. Regulates body weight, cholesterol levels, rates, body mass index, skin and a healthy lifestyle are the main advantages of promoting the sport in your family. You could avoid too many medical expenses. Running governs hearing and vote. As this is an easy exercise, we do not need equipment or facilities to perform this practice should be encouraged. The race is part of all outdoor games. Example, in Baseball the players run to score. Games improve concentration, stamina, health of the individuals.</p>
<p><span id="more-257"></span>When practicing a sport, our eating habit changes automatically and suddenly we begin to choose healthy foods over nutrient effects. You can be healthier in athletic performance. Children learn a lot when the elders are in good deeds rather than simply speak or preach. If the former exercise regularly, then get the children would soon participate in more outdoor activities. Remember, depending on what sport you&#8217;re involved, make sure to follow all security mechanisms. For Example, in the game of baseball gloves are important safety measure for hands. Play safe and Play Healthy.</p>

You&#8217;ll also need warm boots and gloves. Since your hands are used to control your sled, you have to work your hands warm enough to have control early. A good pair of glasses is also required.
