Cool Stuff About GPS Navigation

Categorized Under: Computer and Technology No Commented

Everyone can think of a family member or relative or friend who never “had to stop to ask for directions.” Of course these scenarios sometimes end up in comical fashions as individuals refuse to ask for assistance from any type of source. I remember my dad would refuse to stop unless it was late and getting dark. The flip side to this is that to truly know where one is going used to involve having all sorts of maps and mini-atlases that were stuffed in glove compartments and in other stowaway places. No one knew anything about GPS Navigation. There are very few people who can get somewhere without solid directions or that can return to a place that has been visited before without additional help. Think of your wife or girlfriend who says we need to make a left right here. Don’t forget that when she tells you this there is a big delivery truck ten feet from your bumper and most likely it is full of what you really need. Bottom line is in today’s world we just need them.

However, all of the possible scenarios above really do not occur if one purchases GPS Navigation. This used to be technology reserved for NASA, the armed forces, and other peripheral and less tangential places than what common people were privy to. Companies like Magellan, Tom Tom, and Garmin have researched and developed systems that common individuals can use, and without all the “paper trail.” Why buy maps and atlases when an installed car system from one of these makers can direct you anywhere at any time? I know where my dollars are going–I will spend the few bucks to invest in GPS Navigation and eliminate the cost and clutter of maps and atlases and the possibility of getting lost. Travel will already be much more pleasurable then.
